Ekaterina Konstantinovna Guseva (born July 9, 1976, Moscow) is a talented Russian actress known for her performances in theater, film, television, musicals, voice acting, and dubbing, as well as a singer. In 2009, she was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the Russian Federation.
Ekaterina was born on July 9, 1976, in Moscow. Her father, Konstantin Vasilievich Gusev, worked as a tailor, and her mother, Tamara Mikhailovna Guseva, was involved in the main inspection at the Administrative-Technical Inspection of the city of Moscow. In school, Ekaterina tried various activities such as sports gymnastics, figure skating, swimming, dancing, and school theater.
At the time when Ekaterina was preparing to enter the Moscow Biotechnology Institute, she was noticed by assistant Evgeny Rubenovich Simonov at one of the school events. She was offered to try to enter the Boris Shchukin Theatre Institute. In 1993, she enrolled in Evgeny R. Simonov's course, and after his death, the course was led by V. P. Nikolaenko.
In early 1995, Ekaterina was invited to become one of the assistants to the host Mikhail Borisov in the television game "Russian Lotto". Together with Borisov and another assistant, Anna Markova, Guseva played various roles in themed theatrical intros that opened each game edition for eight years.
After receiving her diploma in 1997, Ekaterina played the lead role in Nikolai Lebedev's first film, "Zmeiny Istochik" (The Serpent's Spring), and received an offer from Mark Rozovsky to join his theater, "U Nikitskikh Vorot" (At Nikitskiye Gates). In June 1999, she performed with a group of entertainers for Leonid Parfyonov's film "Zhivoy Pushkin" (Living Pushkin) - a 5-episode saga about the life of poet A.S. Pushkin, dedicated to the 200th anniversary of his birth.
After four years of working at Rozovsky's theater, Ekaterina joined the musical "Nord-Ost". She started taking lessons in professional singing and musical literacy to play the lead role of Katya Tatarinova. The preparation for the premiere of "Nord-Ost" coincided with the filming of the series "Brigada" (The Brigade) by Alexey Sidorov, which brought Guseva nationwide fame. In the spring of 2002, Ekaterina Guseva, together with her colleagues and the creators of the musical, Alexey Ivashchenko and Georgy Vasilyev, conquered the North Pole, where they raised a flag with the autographs of the musical's cast. During this expedition, she sang in temperatures of -40°C, and this fact was recorded in the Book of Records of Russia.
After the end of the musical's performances in May 2003, Guseva joined the troupe of the Moscow Soviet Theater, where she continues to work to this day.
Ekaterina also participated in the recording of the albums "Nord-Ost: Izbrannoye" (Nord-Ost: Highlights) (2002) and "7 Podarkov k Rozhdestvu" (7 Gifts for Christmas) (Classical Christmas songs translated by Georgy Vasilyev) (2004), and she has also recorded several solo songs. She performs Russian romances in a duet with Leonid Serebrennikov. In 2006, she released her first solo album, "Mojet Byt', Poluchitsya" (Maybe It Will Work Out).
